Spend one hour per day reading the questions out loud for one chapter and answering the questions using the voice memo app on your smartphone. If you're stuck on how to answer the question, that's where research comes in to save the day. Research the topic and rephrase the answer in your own words.

After ten days, you should have ten hours of recording. Upload your recordings into a program called Descript, which will transcribe your audio for only $12.00. It's a $12/month subscription for ten hours of transcription per month—remember to cancel your subscription… I forgot to cancel mine.

You're now ten hours into this project and your first draft is done. It's time to edit the manuscript. You don't need to hire a professional editor. For 1001 Ways to Save Money, I paid for a 3-month Grammarly Premium subscription and used a website called Hemingway App. If you edit one chapter per week, you'll finish editing in ten weeks.

Finally, you turn your manuscript into a book.

Hire a graphic designer to design the cover of your book. The cover sells the book. You can check out 99designs for book cover designers. Expect to pay between $350.00 and $900.00 for a book cover. Don't do it yourself. Don't cheap out on this. Readers can spot an amateur job from a mile away.

Hire a copywriter to write your blurb. You can either use Fiverr (I used that for my 1st edition) or use Polgarus Studio (I used them for my 2nd edition). Every copywriter will ask you to summarize your book or ask you to write your own blurb and then they will improve your blurb. Polgarus Studio charges more money, but they will actually read your entire manuscript and handpick the best parts of your book for the back cover copy.

Buy an interior book design template from Book Design Templates for $59.00 and use their Microsoft Word Template to format your book. Their templates come with instructions.

Now it's just a matter of uploading your book to Kindle Publishing. There are already many YouTube videos and articles on how to do this. If you're a Millennial, it should be easy for you to figure this part out.

Approximately 72 hours after you finish submitting your information and files to Kindle Publishing, your book will be on Amazon, ready for sale.

You can now call yourself an author.

Congratulations!
